RISE participants heard from three students and a faculty member who shared their internship experiences.

Internships
- What challenges have students, faculty, or employers noticed in matching students with local internship opportunities?
- What could the institutions or community do to create more accessible internship opportunities for students in different majors?
- How can the university and local businesses work together to create internship experiences that benefit both students and the community?
- What type of support or resources would help employers, especially small businesses, create or expand internship opportunities?
- Are there funding opportunities that could support paid internships for students in financially restricted sectors?
Micro-Internships: An Emerging Opportunity: Micro-internships are short-term, project-based work experiences that allow students to gain exposure to real-world tasks without committing to a full internship. These projects, which may last from a few days to a few weeks, offer flexibility for both students and employers and are often remote.
